Tres Jolie Mixed Media Cards- August Kit

 Hey everyone. Liv here to bring you another project using this month's August Mixed Media Set. 

For this one, I mentioned in my blog post last week that the coverage from the TCW Stardust Butters is fantastic, a nice shimmer, dries fast and overall good coverage. That is why I decided to use the butters as a central item in my cards this month.

First up, I took two pieces of cardstock in my stash and cover the panels completely with the TWC-Butters. 

Once the panels were all dried, I used on of the larger flower set dies I have in my stash to cut the flowers out on the two panels.

For the first one, I did a quick splatter background to match this month's Tres Jolie Challenge Mood board.  Be sure to check out the colors this month and hope you enter to win.

 

Once the splatter was done, I placed the large black die cut and used some of the gold die cuts. Then did a little ink, Nuvo drops and this card was done.

For the next one I made, I used the vellum to ink it up.

 

I then layer down the rest of the gold die cuts and stenciled using this month's kit stencil. 

Once that was done, I added more Nuvo drops and this card was done too.

So here are the finished cards. I hope you enjoyed this project.

Tres Jolie July Card Kit- Slimline Cards.

 Surprise..Liv here to join in sharing a set of cards I made using this month's card Kit.  

I know you are used to me using the Mixed Media kit but I tried my hand at these mixed media "vintage" style cards...which is bit off of my grungy style but I really enjoyed how they came out. See the video below for how I pulled it together. 

 First up I had to distress the cards a bit. I don't have one of those fancy distressing tools so the edge of a scissor works just fine. 

 Once I did that to all of the cards, I pulled out my distress inks to ink up the sides. 

Then I wanted to add some texture so I pulled out my texture paste and used a stencil from my stash to apply it with. 

Finally, I began to add all of the embellishments. For this card, I did use the chipboard scroll available over the Tres Jolie site. Whenever I used a larger chipboard piece like this, I do trim it up. 

For the final card, I took the beautiful chipboard piece and covered it with gold wax. 

Added the flowers and voila....three slimline cards.

Mixed Media Cards using the July MM Kit and the Scrapbooking Kit.

 Hey everyone. It is Liv here and I decided to a make a set of cards using two kits- the July Mixed Media kit and the Scrapbooking Kit. 

When I make cards, I love to create mixed media style cards. I only ended up making two cards but love how both of them came out. If you prefer to watch the video on how it all came out, see the link below. 

 

 

So first I used the Creative Expressions-Cosmic Shimmer Botanical Stains in a smooshing technique. For this technique, you just need some plastic to "dab" into the liquid and then smoosh it on to your card front. The best way is to be quick on doing it so that it is more of a blotchy effect. 

One tip if you are using multiple colors and don't want too much blending or a brown/grey mess, be sure to dry them in between the colors. When you watch my video you will see that I made that mistake, but was able to correct it when I dried between the colors. 

Now I couldn't resist using the stains to also add some splatters. 

 Next I pulled out the rub-ons that came with the July Scrapbook Kit. I am one who loves how versatile rub-ons are and make things pop without making too much thickness. 

When you watch the video you will see that I created three backgrounds, but I decided to use one of the backgrounds for the flowers die I cut out. So here are my finished cards...simple but with a great pop. I hope you enjoyed this video and thanks you for stopping by. Tres Jolie Mixed Media Paintbrush

 Welcome back everyone. It's Liv here and today I am featuring a mixed media paintbrush I created using the  July 2023 Mixed Media Kit. One of my favorite things about these kits is that they are so versatile when it comes to creating. Only your imagination will hold you back. 

I'm sharing a few photos as well as video of how it all together:

First up I glued down all of the pieces I wanted to use. I started with some resin pieces I had in my stash and combined them with the Tres Jolie chipboard scrolls. 

Once that was all glued down, I primed all the pieces using Heavy White Gesso. This allows for the pieces to absorb the colors fully. 

From there I apply the Creative Expressions: Cosmic Shimmers Botanical Stains. My main focus was to use the Wood Blue and Black Bean with some touches of Marigold. The bottles come with eye drop application, but I did put the Black Bean into a spray bottle. I also applied the colors onto the bristles. 

Then I use some of the die cuts pieces from the July Cards and Tag collection and dyed the colors using the stains to match the project better. 

And here is my finished piece. I just loved the way it came out. I hope you enjoyed this project and can't wait to see what you make with the July kit.

Art Journaling Page with the Tres Jolie Kit

 Hey everyone, Its Liv here and I am back with an Art Journaling Page using the  June 2023 Mixed Media Kit. Not only are we bringing you new projects using the new June kits but it's also Tres Jolie's 5 year Anniversary, stay tuned as I know we have lots of fun challenges and events coming up. Art journaling is a great way to use all your mixed media tools. I'm sharing a few photos as well as video of how it all together:

First, I started off my page with putting down four different colors of Oil Pastels on to the page.  

Next, I take out my Baby Oil and Q-tips to smooth out the lines. Note this part can get messy so gloves may be needed if you don't want to wash your hands for days. 

I felt I need more texture, so I used the stencil to create additional lines using the three brightest colors of the page (red, blue, and yellow). 

I added some chipboard pieces and colored them with the oil pastels so that it matched the other colors of the page. 

Finally, I ended with adding some Dress My Craft Transfer Images, some stamping and, of course, some splatter and sentiment pieces. 

I hope you guys enjoyed this project. If you have never given art journaling a try, it is great way to just let your mind go with the flow and see where your creativity takes you. 

Mixed Media Tag using June's Tres Jolie Kit

Hey everyone, Its Liv here with my first DT project for Tres Jolie. Today I will be sharing a tag I created with the June 2023 Mixed Media Kit. Not only are we bringing you new projects using the new June kits but its also Tres Jolie's 5 year Anniversary, stay tuned as I know we have lots of fun challenges and events coming up. 

Mixed Media Tag

For this tag, I'm sharing a few photos as well as video of how it call together on the Tres Jolie Youtube site. Now oil pastels are a new media for me so I found that baby oil worked the best to get the blending to work. The first layer I used white gesso on the Studio Light-Mask-MASKFC30 stencil included in the kit to create texture.

 Next I used multiple colors- RED, BLUE, YELLOW AND GREEN from the Royal & Langnickel Oil Pastel set. With some baby oil I was able to move the colors round. I then added more stripes from the Studio Light Mask, but this time with using the Lindy's Gang Milky Way White Mica powder as a watercolor.  

Then I used my Dress My Craft Transfer sheet-3D White Flowers. I thought the white was a bit too bright so I colored them in with the oil pastels. 

Then I finished off my tag using the Swirls and Scrolls Chipboard, adding some mini art stones, and a sentiment.  I just loved all the chipboard pieces created by Tres Jolie and look forward to using more of it.
